Game Review

Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2

The reason I chose Tekken is because it's one of my favorite fighting games for PlayStation and I've played all of 1-6 including the first tag tournament game.

In this game trailer, I noticed that the music acted as a bit of a backdrop for the narration since the vocals were more forward in the mix. However, the music was still very necessary. The style of music seemed like a mixture of upbeat dance/trance. Due to the energetic, fast-paced nature of the music, it fit nicely with the various fighting scenes that were displayed in the trailer. It felt like the type of music you would want to get up and move to.

Tekken is a very energetic fighting game where the players display various fighting art skills in various rounds until a victor is determined. I think the music fit perfectly with that kind of theme. The sound design was spot on, especially the sounds used for punches, kicks and various hits performed by the players. The sounds from the game as well as the music were mixed down nicely and weren't drowned out by the narration.

There was one thing I felt that could have been changed a bit. I felt like the narration, though expressive and bright to bring out the hyper nature of the game, was a bit too loud and forward. I felt like the overall vocal level could have been brought down a bit even though it was necessary in advertising the game and its new features.  Other than that, the sound effects were blended nicely in the overall mix and fit in well with the visuals displayed.

I believe that the type of music used in this trailer kept the viewer's attention. It definitely exuded excitement and action that matched the nature of the game. The music also had a lively and colorful feel to it that complimented the colorful and bright scenery, backdrops and overall look of the characters and environments in the game. Tekken is definitely a fighting game that can boost your excitement and give you a feeling similar to that of an adrenaline rush once you're sucked into it. The music also helps to accomplish this.

From the previous Tekken games I've played, they all had similar music that accompanied the fighting scenes.
